BlackRock Energy and Resources Trust (the Trust) is a non-diversified, closed-end management investment company. The Trust’s investment objective is to provide total return through a combination of current income and capital appreciation. The Trust seeks to achieve its investment objective by investing, under normal market conditions, at least 80% of its total assets in equity securities of energy and natural resources companies and equity derivatives with exposure to the energy and natural resources industry. The Trust invests directly in such securities or synthetically through the use of derivatives. The Trust also invests up to 20% of its total assets in other United States and other non- United States investments. These investments include equity and debt securities of companies not engaged in the energy and natural resources industry. It invests in sectors, including oil, gas and consumable fuels, and metals and mining. The Trust's investment advisor is BlackRock Advisors, LLC.
