DWS Municipal Income Trust (the Fund) is a closed-end, diversified management investment company. The Fund's investment objective is to provide a high level of current income exempt from federal income tax. Under normal circumstances, at least 80% of the Fund’s net assets, plus the amount of any borrowings for investment purposes, intends on being invested in municipal securities at the time of purchase within the four highest grades (Baa or BBB or better). The Fund invests up to 20% of its net assets in such unrated municipal securities. The Fund invests in inverse floaters. It has investments in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New York and North Carolina, among others. Its investment adviser is DWS Investment Management Americas, Inc.
