Its lead product candidate, pomotrelvir, inhibits the main coronaviral cysteine protease (Mpro), a viral protein essential for replication of all known coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2. Inhibiting Mpro prevents the liberation and assembly of the viral replication complex, blocking replication before it begins.
