Surmodics, Inc. is a provider of performance coating technologies for intravascular medical devices and chemical and biological components for in vitro diagnostic (IVD) immunoassay tests and microarrays. The Company operates through two segments: Medical Device and In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD). The Medical Device segment manufactures performance coatings, including surface modification coating technologies to improve access, deliverability and predictable deployment of medical devices, as well as drug-delivery coating technologies to provide site-specific drug-delivery from the surface of a medical device, with end markets that includes coronary, peripheral, neurovascular and structural heart, among others. The IVD segment designs, develops and manufactures component products and technologies for diagnostic immunoassay, as well as molecular tests and biomedical research applications, with products that include protein stabilizers, substrates, surface coatings and antigens.
