Solid Power, Inc. is a research and development-stage company. The Company is engaged in developing solid-state battery technologies to enable the next generation of rechargeable batteries for the electric vehicle (EV) and other markets. The Company's lead technology is its sulfide-based solid electrolyte material, which replaces the liquid or gel electrolyte used in conventional lithium-ion batteries. The Company is also engaged in designing and developing solid-state cells that utilize its electrolyte in the cathode, anode, and separator layers. Its mature cell design uses a silicon anode, nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) cathode, and a solid separator. The Company is in research development on additional cell designs, including lithium-metal, an anode-less design, and a cell that replaces the nickel and cobalt in the cathode with earth-abundant materials. It produces 0.2 ampere-hours (Ah), 2 Ah, 20 Ah, and EV cells on two pilot lines using established manufacturing processes.
